 Hampstead is located in Pender County, North Carolina. The once small fishing village and whistle stop along the Atlantic Coast Line RR is now one of the fastest growing areas in the state. More and more people are choosing Hampstead as their place to call home.Many neighborhoods front the waterway, the numerous creeks and area golf courses. The land side of the area is officially referred to as Topsail Township, which includes many small unincorporated communities, and the larger community of Hampstead. You can still find quaint fishing shacks on the banks of the Intercoastal Waterway, though most are being replaced by much larger homes as new people move into the area. Hampstead, and all of Pender County, is seeing growth and change. Farmlands, once used for blueberries and tobacco are growing houses and neighborhoods as development of the area increases. |

| Hampstead features many fine neighborhoods, established and new developments, and offers a variety of amenities such as golf, boating, swimming, fishing, etc. You can live on the intercoastal or the ninth hole. Hampstead has so much to offer for reasonable prices. Every September, J.H. Lea & Sons contribute about 5,000 lbs. of fish to the yearly Spot Festival, the event of the year. It celebrates one of the most abundant and favorite fish found in the area. History is everywhere, mostly related to marauders, both pirates and Yankees. Topsail Inlet was a frequently used entrance to Topsail Sound, a hideout for Blackbeard, Steede Bonnett and Captain Kidd. |
| There are two elementary schools, North Topsail Elementary and South Topsail Elementary. Plans for a third titled Central Topsail Elementary have been approved. There is one middle school named Topsail Middle School and one high school, Topsail High School, which is located right next to Topsail Middle and withing walking distance of the Hampstead Branch Library. There are also plans for a new High School that have been approved. |
